Michael Flynn, a retired vocational instructor, passed away June 19, 2025, according to Ironwood State Prison in Blythe.

Flynn began his career with the department as a maintenance mechanic at Ironwood State Prison in July 2004.
He was promoted to stationary engineer at Chuckawalla Valley State Prison in January 2006. Flynn then returned to Ironwood in July, promoting to vocational instructor in October.
He retired from Ironwood in August 2018.
“Our deepest condolences are extended to the Flynn family during this difficult time,” according to Ironwood State Prison.
Services will be held July 8 at Saint Joan of Arc Church, 811 W. Chanselor Way in Blythe.
