Pelican Bay State Prison (PBSP) is mourning the passing of Correctional Officer Andrew Labrada. He passed away Aug. 6, 2025.

Officer Labrada began his career with the department in September 2021.
Following his academy training, he was assigned to PBSP in Crescent City in December 2021, where he served with distinction until his passing.
“Officer Labrada was a respected and valued member of the Pelican Bay State Prison family. Known for his cheerful demeanor, he was an integral part of the Peer Support and Honor Guard Team, demonstrating a deep commitment to his colleagues and the institution. He also generously volunteered his time at community events, representing the spirit of Pelican Bay State Prison to the wider public,” according to the institution. “Officer Labrada’s presence will be profoundly missed by everyone. Pelican Bay State Prison extends its deepest condolences to his family, friends, and loved ones during this incredibly difficult time.”
