Raymond Gomes

Gomes, a California native, worked for the department for nearly a dozen years.

He began his career with CDCR at Pleasant Valley State Prison in October 2007. He later transferred to California Men’s Colony (CMC) in October 2013. Gomes remained at CMC until retiring in November 2018.

“He will be remembered fondly by those who had the pleasure of working with him. Please keep his family and loved ones in your thoughts during this difficult time,” according to CMC.

He is survived by his wife, a daughter, son, and many grandchildren. Gomes is also survived by a sister and two brothers along with many nieces and nephews.

“Raymond’s family would like to express their deepest gratitude for the outpouring of love and support they have received during this difficult time. Raymond’s memory will live on in the hearts of all who loved him,” his family said. “He will never be forgotten.”

A memorial service will be held at noon, Saturday, Sept. 27, at Redeemer Orthodox Presbyterian Church, 751 E. Foster Road, in Santa Maria.
