Pleasant Valley hosts staff health, wellness fair

Pleasant Valley State Prison health and wellness fair with food trucks and beverage carts.

Pleasant Valley State Prison promoted health and wellness with a special fair held recently in the In-Service Training classroom.

With a steady flow of staff moving through the makeshift convention center, attendees shared the same goal of prioritizing personal health.

Quick video snapshot of the event (story continues below):

The fair was organized by the personnel team, chaired by Christina Correira, Institutional Personnel Officer. Areas pitching in also included mental health, community resources, and others.

Centered around the open enrollment period, groups from insurance providers, unions, benefit representatives and local health professionals were available to respond to questions and educate staff on employee wellness benefits.

A variety of services and information booths were set up for staff during the multi-day event.

Dr. Dehnavifar, psychologist, and the Mental Health Department also provided resources for the ongoing Suicide Prevention and Awareness campaign.

After collecting information materials and swag from the health fair, staff could enjoy a lunch outdoors from a variety of food trucks and drink carts.
