Christopher Hansen, a retired correctional officer, passed away Nov. 3, 2025. He worked for the department from 1987 until he retired in 2016.

Hansen began his career with the department as a cadet in April 1987. After graduating the academy, he reported to Mule Creek State Prison in Ione as a correctional officer.
He remained at the institution until he retired in December 2016.
“Christopher was proud to serve as an officer and was well known in Ione. He believed in supporting the small-town businesses, even if it cost a little extra. He loved fitness, animals, his family and riding his motorcycle. Christopher is survived by his mother, brother, niece and nephew,” according to the institution. “Christopher was respected by his peers and was a well-loved member of the Mule Creek State Prison family. He was a good friend, partner, and a good human being. His absence will be profoundly felt by all who knew him.”
