Danny Lewis, retired correctional officer

Danny Lewis, a retired correctional officer, passed away Feb. 6, 2026. He worked for the department for 22 years.

He began his career as a cadet in July 1998. After graduating the Basic Correctional Officer Academy, he reported to the Substance Abuse Treatment Facility and State Prison at Corcoran in August 1998.

In April 2000, he transferred to Wasco State Prison-Reception Center where he remained until retiring in June 2020.

“Officer Lewis will be greatly missed by all who knew and worked with him,” according to the institution. “Please continue to keep the Lewis family in your thoughts and prayers during this very difficult time.”

Services will be held at 11 a.m., Feb. 28, at the Apostolic Faith Temple Church, 1600 F St., Wasco.
