CARU staff complete three days of training

CDCR’s Centralized Allegation Resolution Unit (CARU) staff successfully completed annual training from March 24–26.

Over the course of three full days, staff participated in instructor‑led courses tailored specifically to the critical duties performed by the unit. Attendees included CARU chief deputy wardens, supervisors, and dedicated support staff.

This year’s training featured in‑person instruction from key partners across the department, including the Office of Appeals, Office of Internal Affairs, Office of Legal Affairs, the Office of Labor Relations, the Director of Division of Adult Institutions, and the Undersecretary of Operations. Their expertise and collaboration helped strengthen CARU’s knowledge base and further enhance the consistency and quality of our work.

Established in January 2025, CARU has continued to grow in scope and responsibility. The unit now oversees 19 institutions and plays a vital role in conducting Hiring Authority processes related to staff‑misconduct investigations. Since activation, CARU has completed nearly 3,800 cases, an accomplishment reflecting the team’s dedication, professionalism, and strong work ethic.

CARU remains actively engaged with the Office of the Inspector General and other stakeholders, all of whom have expressed positive feedback and continued confidence in the unit’s performance.

“Thank you to every member of CARU for your dedication and contributions. Your efforts have a meaningful impact across the department, and your commitment to excellence does not go unnoticed,” said training organizers. “Let’s continue the great work as we look ahead to another successful year.”
