At the CDCR Academy in Galt, Class 3-26A correctional officer cadets are hitting the ground running as they push through weeks of training. The Academy is posting regular updates about the class on their social media pages. To find their social media channels, search “CDCR Academy.”
First day at the Academy
On June 1, more than 150 cadets checked in for day one of the Basic Correctional Officer Academy Class 3-26A. Challenges lie ahead, but so do opportunities to grow, lead and succeed.

Physical fitness test
The Academy posted a series of photos showing the physical fitness test (PFT) on June 10.
“The PFT is one of the first opportunities for cadets to demonstrate the mental toughness required to succeed at the Academy. Driven by determination and a desire to improve, Class 3-26A pushed themselves harder with every step, every lap and every second,” the Academy posted.

Record-breaking run
“Meet Cadet J. Langford of Papa Company. Not every run makes history, but this one did,” the Academy posted. “With a PFT time of 2:28, Cadet Langford shattered the previous Academy record of 2:40 and earned his place in the record books. The next class has something to chase.”

Guidons for cadets’ companies
“The companies of Class 3-26A received their guidons (on June 16), symbols of pride, discipline and teamwork. Throughout the academy, each guidon represents the identity of its company and the commitment of every cadet who stands behind it. Class 3-26A, carry it with pride,” the Academy posted.
