The Correctional Training Facility (CTF) at Soledad, in partnership with the CTF Employee Action Committee, recently hosted its annual Staff Appreciation Day.

The July 1 event provided CTF employees and their families with an opportunity to enjoy an afternoon of food, activities and fellowship. It was also a way to recognize the dedication and professionalism of the institution’s workforce.

The CTF Staff Appreciation Day included hot dogs, chips and a variety of baked items prepared by staff volunteers. Attendees also participated in a chili cook-off, where staff showcased their favorite homemade recipes in a friendly competition.

Carnival of activities

A variety of activities were available throughout the afternoon.

These included:

  • bounce house
  • face painting
  • cotton candy booth
  • cake walk
  • potato sack races
  • limbo
  • tug-of-war
  • kid-friendly ax-throwing booth
  • and watermelon-eating competition.

A classic car show featured several vintage and custom vehicles on display.

The event also featured prize giveaways while giving employees and their families a chance to spend time outside work.

Coordinated through the combined efforts of CTF and the Employee Action Committee, the event had support from numerous staff volunteers. They assisted with planning, setup, food preparation, event coordination and cleanup. Their efforts helped ensure the event ran smoothly and provided an enjoyable experience for all who attended.

The event serves as an opportunity for employees from all areas of the institution to come together, building camaraderie. The event also provides an opportunity for employees’ families to visit the institution.

Acting Warden C. Rojas expressed her appreciation for everyone who helped make the event possible.

“Staff Appreciation Day is our opportunity to recognize the dedicated employees who serve this institution every day and the families who support them,” Rojas said. “The success of this event reflects the teamwork, professionalism and sense of community that make CTF such a special place to work. I want to thank the CTF Employee Action Committee, our volunteers and everyone who contributed their time and effort to make this day a success.”
