California State Prison, Los Angeles County (LAC), dedicated the week of June 15–19 to staff appreciation, honoring their hard work, dedication and resilience.
The festivities kicked off Monday with a high-energy carnival. Staff enjoyed classic games, sweet treats and savory snacks. The highlight of the day was the dunk tank, where staff lined up for a chance to submerge prison leadership. Both Chief Deputy Warden Joshua Miller and Chief Nurse Executive Kristen Hooper bravely stepped up, bringing plenty of laughs and boosting morale across custody and healthcare teams.

The week culminated in a vibrant Youth Correctional Day, welcoming staff families into the facility’s community space.
Kids got a firsthand look at law enforcement gear, climbing onto real police motorcycles provided by the Lancaster Police Department.

Additionally, the Central Transportation Hub brought out their specialized vehicles, giving families an educational, behind-the-scenes look at how the state safely transports incarcerated individuals.
It was a week filled with smiles, community connection and deeply deserved recognition, according to organizers.
