Joseph Padilla, retired psychiatric technician, passed away July 16, 2026.

Joseph Padilla, a retired correctional psychiatric technician, passed away July 16, 2026. Padilla worked for the state for more than 40 years. Services will be held Sept. 16 in Chino.

He began his state service at Lanterman Developmental Center in February 1981. He later transferred to California Institution for Men, California Correctional Institution and finally, in 2016, to California State Prison-Los Angeles County in Lancaster. According to the institution, he remained dedicated to serving CDCR until he retired in April 2025.

“Joseph’s decades of service reflect a commitment to public safety and the wellbeing of those entrusted to CDCR’s care. Joseph’s contributions helped shape the institution and supported countless coworkers throughout his career. We extend our deepest sympathies and heartfelt condolences to Joseph’s family, loved ones and friends during this difficult time,” according to the institution.

A celebration of life will be held at 10 a.m., Sept. 16, at Our Lady of Guadalupe Church, 5048 D St., Chino. A reception will follow at noon at the American Legion Hall, 13759 Central Ave., Chino.
