Inmate Health Care

Effective September 19, 2018, the California Correctional Health Care Services (CCHCS) has begun collaborating with County Probation offices for the purposes of transferring healthcare information for inmates being released to Postrelease Community Supervision (PRCS) to ensure continuity of care. CCHCS has developed a system through which health care information will be transmitted via a secure and confidential system. When an inmate is identified as upcoming for release, CCHCS will prepare a patient summary and upload it into the appropriate county’s folder in the Secure File Transfer Protocol (SFTP). County Probation will designate an individual (or individuals) who are authorized to receive confidential healthcare information. Files will be available for 30 days, after which they will be deleted to protect patient privacy.
