California Institution for Men Inmate Dies from Complications Related to COVID‑19

CHINO – The California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation (CDCR) today announced an inmate from California Institution for Men (CIM) in San Bernardino County passed away at an outside area hospital from what appear to be complications related to COVID-19. An exact cause of death has not yet been determined.

Next of kin has been notified. No additional information is being provided to protect the individual’s medical privacy.

CIM currently has 59 incarcerated persons who have tested positive for COVID-19.

CDCR takes the health and safety of all those who live and work in our state prisons very seriously and will continue to work diligently to address the COVID-19 pandemic.
