Condemned Inmate Charles Edward Crawford II Dies

SAN QUENTIN – Condemned inmate Charles Edward Crawford II was found unresponsive in his single cell at San Quentin State Prison (SQ) at approximately 6:47 p.m. on April 28. Medical staff responded and began life-saving measures but Crawford was transported to an outside hospital for a higher level of care. He was pronounced deceased at 7:52 p.m. The Marin County Coroner’s Office will determine Crawford’s exact cause of death.

Crawford, 46, was sentenced in Alameda County on June 7, 2002. He received the death penalty for two (2) counts of first-degree murder with enhancements for being armed with a firearm. Johnson was admitted to death row on June 7, 2002.
