VALENCIA – California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation (CDCR) officials announced an incarcerated person who had walked away from the Francisquito Conservation Camp in Santa Clarita on Oct. 12, 2023 was taken into custody today.
Marcelo S. Caparrotta, 53, was arrested without incident in Valencia by camp staff at 7:20 a.m. Caparrotta was taken to Sierra Conservation Center prison. His case will be referred to the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office for consideration of escape charges.
Caparrotta was admitted to CDCR from San Bernardino County on June 30, 2022, to serve a 6-year sentence for Injury to Elder Causing Death/GBI and is a second striker.
Since 1977, 99 percent of all people who have left an adult institution, camp or community-based program without permission have been apprehended.
