CDCR Seeking Incarcerated Man Who Walked Away from Los Angeles County Male Community Reentry Program

LOS ANGELES – California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation (CDCR) officials are seeking a person who walked away from a Male Community Reentry Program (MCRP) facility in Los Angeles County on Thursday, Feb. 27, 2025.

At about 4:21 p.m., officials were alerted that incarcerated person Jorge Contreras had walked out of an MCRP facility in Los Angeles. The emergency count conducted confirmed that Contreras was missing. CDCR’s Office of Correctional Safety and local law enforcement agencies have been notified and are assisting in the search.

Contreras, 35, is a Hispanic male with a light complexion, brown hair, and brown eyes.  He is 5 feet, 10 inches tall and weighs 228 pounds.

His last known location was at the intersection of West 6th St. & South Rampart Blvd. in Los Angeles, and he was last seen wearing a light, long-sleeved shirt with a purple, short-sleeved T-shirt over it, dark jeans, and a gray baseball cap.

Contreras was received from Los Angeles County on September 10, 2024 to serve a 2-year sentence for evading, or attempting to evade, a peace officer while driving recklessly.

Anyone who sees Contreras or has knowledge of his whereabouts should contact law enforcement, call 9-1-1 or contact Special Agent Lucia Iniguez at 310-256-1781.

The MCRP allows eligible offenders committed to state prison to serve the end of their sentences in the re-entry center and provides them the programs and tools necessary to transition from custody to the community. It is a voluntary program for male offenders who have two years or less left to serve. The program links offenders to a range of community-based rehabilitative services that assist with substance use disorders, mental health care, medical care, employment, education, housing, family reunification and social support.

Since 1977, 99 percent of all people who have left an adult institution, camp, or community-based program without permission have been apprehended.
