FAMILY VISITING
FAMILY VISITING OVERNIGHT FOR IP’S ASSIGNED TO WORK/PRIVILEGE GROUP A1/A ARE PERMITTED TO ONE (1) FAMILY VISIT EVERY NINTY (90) DAYS. FV START AT 11 AM AND SHALL END NO EARLIER THAN FORTH-SIX (46) HOURS LATER 9 AM.
Visitors failing to report to the visitor processing area by 11:00
a.m. without the notification and approval of the family visiting
coordinator are subject to cancellation of the visit and suspension of
family visiting program privileges for six months.
EFFECTIVE AUGUST 15, 2025, CMF WILL BEGIN UTILIZING INSTACART FOR FAMILY VISITING FOOD PURCHASES, PLEASE REVIEW THE FOLLOWING INFORMATION. PLEASE NOTE FOOD ORDERS SHALL BE LIMITED TO ONE STORE ONLY PLEASE DO NOT ORDER FROM MULTIPLE STORES
Incarcerated persons and Visitors scheduled for a Family Visit shall utilize Instacart grocery delivery services to purchase all food for their Family Visit. The following items will be prohibited for purchase; alcohol, non-alcoholic spirits, tobacco/tobacco products, and food items in glass containers, energy drinks and chewing gum. Refer to Instacart instructions for California Medical Facility Visiting. In the event your items arrive in glass staff will contact you to bring a transferable container. CMF is not responsible for providing a container.
To ensure there are no delays, visitors shall have their groceries ordered and delivered via Instacart, 24 hours in advance of their scheduled family visit between the hours of 6am and noon. Be advised CMF does not have the storage to hold food items earlier then one day prior to your visit therefore to ensure you visit isn’t cancelled we ask that you read all the Instacart instructions
If a visit is cancelled for any reason and cannot be rescheduled the incarcerated person may choose one (1) of the following three (3) options for the disposition of the ordered Family Visit food items:
• Donate to CMF contingency
• Send home at their expense
• Have it destroyed
California Medical Facility is not liable for Instacart order errors, damaged or missing items. All disputes with orders will need to be filed by the account holder directly with Instacart.
When ordering your groceries please ensure you note your loved one’s name and CDC number. Ensure your delivery driver drops your groceries off at the designated location with a visiting staff member.

CMF DONATION PROCESS!!!
All donations require a completed donation form. Once the items are approved you will receive an email from the Community Resource Office. Once you receive your approval you may then bring your donated items to the A side front entrance with a copy of your approval. Please note we will ONLY accept donations between the hours of 8am-12pm Monday-Friday due to our warehouse hours. Any donations brought in after will have to be turned away until the following business day between those hours. This includes items being donated to Family Visiting including DVD’s
ALLOWABLE VISITING ITEMS AND CLOTHING
Miscellaneous Items
- One pair of prescription eyeglasses
- One handkerchief or a small package of tissues, NO BANDANAS.
- One comb and/or hairbrush, non-metallic, no pointed ends or detachable parts.
- Two keys on a ring with no other attachments. One key may be an electronic car key.
- Valid State/Federal Identification.
- One transparent coin purse, maximum two compartments, maximum size of 6”x 8”.
- One Hundred dollars per adult visitor and fifty dollars per minor visitor, coin or one-dollar bills only.
- Ten (10) photos or documents
The following items are permitted, as needed, and upon submission of verifiable documentation from a medical doctor that a physical or mental limitation exists, for visitors who require reasonable accommodations to ensure that proper hygiene is met: The physician’s written statement shall include the physician’s medical license number, address, and phone number.
• One to two articles of clothing (pants).
• Two adult incontinence products (diapers).
• A container of cleaning wipes.
• Wheelchair and one additional assistive device
Visitors over 36” tall shall adhere to the following dress standards.
• Shoes or sandals shall be worn at all times. Shower shoes and bedroom slippers will not be allowed.
• Buttons, snaps, and zippers shall remain fastened.
• Thick strapped under shirt at least 2 inches in width shall be worn beneath translucent clothing, under all circumstances. No thin or spaghetti strap tank tops
• For security reasons, no brassiere will have metal underwire. Brassieres must be worn at all times to enter the institution.
• All shorts and skirts, including slits in the garment, shall not expose more than two inches above the knee when standing.
PROHIBITED ATTIRE
Prohibited attire consists of, but is not limited to, the following:
• Clothing that resembles state-issued inmate clothing worn to visiting (e.g., blue denim or blue chambray shirts and blue denim pants, reception center attire).
• Clothing that resembles law enforcement or military-type clothing, including raingear, when not legitimately worn by an individual on active duty or in an official capacity. Clothing that:
• Clothing that Exposes the breast/chest area, genitals, or buttocks.
• By design, manner worn, or due to the absence of, allows the anatomical detail of body parts or midriff to be clearly viewed.
• Clothing that is shear or transparent or excessively tight.
• Attire or accessories displaying obscene/offensive language, drawings, or objects.
• Head coverings, readily removable hair pieces, or gloves, with the exception of clear see-through rain gear for inclement weather.
• Any other clothing, garment, or accessory that when compared to the expressly specified standards above would warrant disapproval.
Exceptions: Hats, wigs, gloves, or hairpieces are permitted with the prior written approval of the institution head or designee.
• Approval shall be based on verification of the visitor’s necessity to wear the hat, wig, gloves, or hairpiece.
• Approval of hats and gloves shall be based on weather conditions at the institution/facility.
• Approved hats, wigs, gloves, or hairpieces shall be inspected by visiting staff prior to the visit.
ALLOWABLE VISITING ITEMS FOR INFANT’S AND TODDLERS
“Infant” means a child less than 12 months of age.
“Toddler” means a child 12 to 36 months of age.
- Six (6) factory sealed single serving packets of baby formula or four (4) transparent plastic baby bottles or cups that are empty or contain premixed formula, milk, almond milk, soy, or rice milk and or juice/water. A breast pump and associated supplies (refrigerated or frozen breastmilk).
- Six (6) non glass containers of baby food or snacks in factory sealed packaging.
- Two (2) plastic spoons.
- Ten (10) disposable diapers.
- One (1) factory sealed package of baby wipes.
- Three (3) changes of clothes
- Two (2) small blankets
- Two (2) pacifiers
- Three (3) burp cloths.
- One (1) tube of factory sealed diaper cream.
- A baby carrier or wrap
- A clear plastic diaper bag Two (2) non-battery-operated toys or (2) books and or 10 pages of homework or coloring pages
APPROVALS
Please be advised visiting applications CDCR 106 forms will be processed within 30 working days of the day visiting receives them.
Inmates housed in quarantine/outbreak units will be eligible to program if they consent to Point of Contact COVID-19 testing on days 1,3,5 and 7, however this program DOES NOT apply to overnight family visiting. Units I-1 and HTC-D side is designated isolation units are authorized to participate in visiting.
ACCESS TO INSTITUTIONS AFFECTED
CDCR urges those traveling to our institutions to plan ahead for a safe trip.

If an institution must cancel visiting due to conditions such as weather, those with an appointment will receive a notice through the Visitation Scheduling Application (VSA). If you plan on participating in a walk-in visit, please contact the institution beforehand.

Inmates housed in quarantine/outbreak units will be eligible to program if they consent to Point of Contact COVID-19 testing on days 1,3,5 and 7, however this program DOES NOT apply to overnight family visiting. All marriages are in person and require at least one approved visitor witnesses.
Visitors will NOT be processed after 5:00 pm on Fridays and 1:00 pm on Saturdays and Sundays.

Visitors/Loved ones arriving for in person visiting may arrive on Institutional grounds 30 minutes prior to the processing time. (Fridays 11:30 am and Saturdays and Sundays 7:30 am).

Visitor processing will open at 12:00 pm on Fridays, 8:00 am on Saturdays and Sundays for appointments first. The maximum number of visitors per inmate is 5 for in-person visiting. The maximum number of visitors for non-contact visiting will be limited to 3. Kids under the age of 2 are welcome.
Mental Health Crisis Bed
Non-legal visits within the MHCB shall be pre-approved, on a case-by case basis, by the Inter-Disciplinary Treatment Team. Visits will be conducted in the MHCB under Non-Contact status for a Maximum of one (1) hour in duration. Visitors must be immediate family members and limited to two (2) visitors at any one (1) time. Minors will not be allowed to visit, unless given prior approval from the Warden or designee, MHCB has limited facilities and may only accommodate two (2) visits concurrently.

Hospice Visiting
Effective July 20, 2023, Hospice visiting will be as followed. Approved Loved ones are not required to schedule an appointment. Those on vigil are not required to adhere to these hours.

Walk-In Visits are accepted and processed on a first come first serve basis during the walk-in time. Appointments that do not arrive by 3:00 pm on Fridays and 11:00 am on Saturdays and Sundays will filter in with the walk -ins. Please ensure you arrive on time in order to have your visit honored.
Visitors will NOT be processed after 5:00 pm on Fridays and 1:00 pm on Saturdays and Sundays.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
Be advised that upon the maximum capacity of the visiting area being reached and to allow others to visit, it is necessary to terminate the visits of those persons who have been visiting for the longest period of time. Scheduled visitation appointments are not an exception to termination.
Exceptions shall include, but are not limited to the following:
Excessive Distance: The visitor has traveled 250 miles or more and has not visited within the last 30 days.
Weddings: When an inmate and the visitor’s marriage ceremony occurred on that day.
Disabled: A disabled visitor who must rely on special transportation to the institution/facility.
Family Emergencies: When death, serious illness or injury occurs to an inmate’s immediate family.
Infrequent Visits: When the visitor has not visited the inmate in the last six months and lives less then 250 miles.
ATTENTION: Effective immediately CSP SOL Friends Outside Trailer is open providing clothing and community resources. Transportation and clothing will be provided at a later date.
