UPDATE:
Folsom State Prison Facility A and Folsom Minimum Support Facility (FMSF) is OPEN during normal visiting hours.
Exceptions due to overcrowding shall include, but are not limited to the following:
Excessive Distance: The visitor has traveled 250 miles or more and has not visited within the last 30 days.
Weddings: When an incarcerated person and the visitor’s marriage ceremony occurred on that day.
Disabled: A disabled visitor who must rely on special transportation to the institution/facility.
Family Emergencies: When death, serious illness or injury occurs to an incarcerated persons immediate family.
Infrequent Visits: When the visitor has not visited the incarcerated person in the last six months.
VSA Visitation Information:
Please visit https://cdcr.gtlvisitme.com/app to schedule a visit. In person, visiting is on Friday, Saturday and Sunday.
The VSA visiting schedule is open for the following:
Friday’s (Thursday 0600 am -Sunday 1159 pm)
Saturday’s (Friday 0600-Tuesday 1159pm)
Sunday’s (Saturday 0600-Wednesday 1159pm)
Visitors arriving for in person visiting may arrive on Institutional grounds no more than 30 minutes prior to the processing time. (Friday 11:30am, Saturday and Sunday 6:30am).
Visitors will NOT be processed after 1500 hours on Friday’s and 1100 hours on Saturday’s and Sunday’s. Visitors who arrive late to their scheduled visit will not be accepted. However, if capacity permits you may try to come in as a walk-in space permitting prior to 1000 hours.

General Population (GP) Non-Contacts only are required to email FSPVideovisiting@cdcr.ca.gov for scheduling.
Restricted Housing Unit (RHU) are required to schedule through GTL/VSA. All non-contact visits are 1-hour appointments regardless of travel.
In-Person Visitation
Friday: 12:00 p.m. – 6:30 p.m.
Saturday: 7:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m.
Sunday: 7:00 a.m. -2:00 p.m.
Visiting shall commence once processing and check-in procedures are completed.
LATE VISITOR REMINDER: All scheduled visitors must check in at the front door within 15 minutes of their scheduled visit start time in order to be processed. The front door will close 15 minutes after each hour. In order to keep your scheduled visit, you must check in with staff within 30 minutes, and you will be processed with the next scheduled group due to being late. If you are more than 30 minutes late, you lose your scheduled visit. At this point, the walk-in process will be available to anyone more than 30 minutes late.
All Non-Contact Visits are 1 hour in length and must be scheduled.
Contact visits have a maximum of five (5) visitors per incarcerated person.
Non-contact visits have a maximum of three (3) visitors per incarcerated person.
Walk-in Visitation Instructions:
Non-contacts are NOT accepted for walk-ins and must be scheduled only.
PLEASE ONLY SIGN UP ON THE FSP VISITING WALK-IN SHEET THAT IS PROVIDED BY VISITING STAFF!!
A yellow numbered pass will be required in order to sign up on the walk-in sheet. The officer at the door will supply these yellow passes when accepting appointments hourly. We will open the door Fridays at 1130am and Saturday/Sunday at 0630 hours to hand out the yellow passes. The yellow numbered pass is required in order to sign up on the walk-in sheet on Friday at 12pm and Sat/Sun 7am.
Friday: The walk-in sign-up sheet will be available to sign up at 12pm, but the first walk-in won’t be accepted until 1pm if no show visits are available. The last sign up accepted is 2pm. No walk-ins will be processed and accepted after 3pm.
Saturday: The walk-in sign-up sheet will be available to sign up at 7am, but the first walk-in won’t be accepted until 8am if no show visits are available. The last sign up accepted is 10am. No walk-Ins will be processed and accepted after 11am.
Sunday: The walk-in sign-up sheet will be available to sign up at 7am, but the first walk-in won’t be accepted until 8am if no show visits are available. The last sign up accepted is 10am. No walk-Ins will be processed and accepted after 11am.
Effective 07/17/2023, Walk-In visits are accepted based on space availability and processed on a first come, first serve basis. We will filter walk-ins with no show visits. Walk-ins are not guaranteed and limited.
Reminders: While on institutional grounds ALL visitors must adhere to all institutional policies and procedures those relating to being respectful and courteous to others. If visiting staff observes misconduct or any violation of the visiting rules, visitors may be subjected for termination for the day and under certain circumstances may be suspended. We appreciate your cooperation with following these rules.
IMPORTANT:
TITLE 15, 3174. Standards of Dress for Incarcerated Person Visitors.
If you are asked to change due to being out of clothing compliance or not passing the metal detector per FSP’s visiting policy. Visitors will be advised they will not be processed until the next scheduled group. As this is not fair to make other visitors wait when they are in compliance and ready to visit. Please check the CDCR.CA.GOV attire restrictions to avoid any future issues with clothing or passing the metal detector. Thank you!
(a) Visitors are expected to dress appropriately and maintain a standard of conduct during visiting that is not offensive to others. Consistent with the goal of making visiting a safe, positive, constructive time for families and staff, the following standards shall apply:
(1) Visitors shall remain fully clothed at all times in the visiting room.
(2) Appropriate attire includes undergarments; a dress or blouse/shirt with skirt/pants/ or shorts; and shoes or sandals.
(3) For security reasons, no brassiere will have metal underwires.
(b) Prohibited attire consists of:
(1) Clothing that resembles state-issued incarcerated person clothing worn to visiting (blue denim or blue chambray shirts and blue denim pants);
(2) Clothing that resembles law enforcement or military-type clothing, including rain gear, when not legitimately worn by an individual on active duty or in an official capacity.
(3) Clothing or garments that:
(A) Expose the breast or chest area, genitals or buttocks;
(B) By design, the manner worn, or due to the absence of, excessively allows the anatomical detail of body parts or midriff to be clearly viewed;
(C) Are sheer, transparent or excessively tight;
(D) Expose more than two inches above the knee, including slits when standing.
(E) Undergarments shall be worn beneath translucent clothing, under all circumstances.
(4) Clothing or accessories displaying sexualized, violent, or offensive language, drawings or objects. (5) Gloves, head coverings (except clear, see-through rain gear), and readily removable wigs or hairpieces.
Friends Outside visitor center to change clothing is currently OPEN.
FORMS OF ACCEPTABLE IDENTIFICATION
If you have an expired driver’s license the paper renewal form will not be accepted. You must have a valid physical driver’s license in hand or another acceptable form of identification listed per policy.
All adults must present identification when being processed to visit. Acceptable forms of identification must be valid and current (not expired) and include:
- A valid driver’s license (from any state) with photo;
- A Department of Motor Vehicle identification card (from any state) with photo;
- An armed forces identification card with photo;
- A United States Department of Justice Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) identification card;
- A United States passport with photo or a foreign passport with photo; or
- A photo identification issued by the Mexican Consulate
