All visits can be scheduled through CDCR.GTLvisitme.com beginning Thursday of the prior week you intend to visit at 0630 am. Visiting With a Minor (17 Years or Younger): As a reminder, a certified copy of each minor’s birth certificate must be brought with an adult visitor accompanying the minor at all times, regardless of whether the child has previously visited PVSP. Visitors will only be permitted in if they have a birth certificate.

If the minor child is being accompanied by an adult that is NOT their legal guardian, you MUST bring a certified copy of the minor’s birth certificate AND a notarized Minor Consent Form. NKSP Appropriate Attire Guidelines Below:

It is recommended that visitors dress conservatively and with the following guidelines in mind. Inappropriate attire will be reason to deny a visit. Any alteration to clothing once a visitor is inside the visiting area will be grounds for termination of the visit. All rules and regulations apply to minors over 3 ft in height. Top and Bottom color combinations are given as examples. This is not to state that this is the only way you are not allowed to wear the colors.

Prohibited Attire:

  • -Clothing which, in any combination of shades or types of material/fabric, resembles California State-Issued inmate clothing, blue denim or chambray shirts and blue denim pants/jackets.
  • – Clothing that resemble custodial staff (CDCR Officers); Tan shirt with Green pants; Green top or bottoms
  • – Orange top, bottoms, or jumpsuits
  • -Camouflage (unless identification shows active or reserve military personnel)
  • -Rips, Tears, Holes in jeans (regardless of skin exposure or not)
  • – Professional Sports Attire (Logos/Wording)
  • -clothing that exposes the breast, genitalia, or buttocks area
  • – Excessively tight/form fitting attire
  • – Low cut or see-through attire
  • – Crop-tops/Clothing that shows any midriff (without having to adjust the attire/high waisted bottoms)
  • -Strapless, halter, sheer, “spaghetti” strap, or transparent clothing; straps must be the width of an ID card on the smallest portion of the strap (3 inches wide)
  • -Dresses, skirts, pants, and shorts exposing more than two inches above the knee, including slits when standing (without being adjusted)
  • – Clothing or accessories displaying obscene or offensive language, artwork, or objects

Prohibited Items:

  • – Hats, beanies, gloves (except for medical reasons/with a doctor’s note) AND with prior approval from institution
  • -Sunglasses (unless prescribed)
  • – Wallets/Bags/Purses (unless clear/see-through)
  • – Phones/Smart devices/Bluetooth capable devices
  • – Wigs, hairpieces, extensions, or other headpieces (except for medical reasons/with a doctor’s note) AND with prior approval from institution
  • – Shower shoes (i.e. slides: a type of sandal notable for their wide strap, which goes over the top of the foot)
  • – Any hair accessories with metal (Claw clips, bobby pins, hair pins, etc.) 

Additional Rules:

  • Undergarments MUST be worn at all times; Underwire is NOT permitted
  • You are required to bring in a brief, detailed doctors note for all medical equipment, medications (i.e. inhaler, oxygen…)
  • Do not wear any item that cannot be taken off and will not clear a metal detector
  • Dress conservatively and modestly
  • Leggings/Yoga pants are approved as long as the SHIRT OR DRESS worn covers the entire buttocks and genitalia area
  • Clothing cannot be layered (i.e. two regular shirts, basketball shorts with jeans, etc.)

Children:

Minors are only allowed to visit when they are accompanied by an approved adult visitor such as a parent, a court appointed legal guardian, or they have written, notarized permission to visit from the child’s parent or legal guardian and a certified birth certificate or embossed abstraction of birth. Notarized letters must have the notary stamp on the original document; it must not be stapled or attached as an amendment and must be updated each calendar year. Visiting Section(s) 187 or 192 involving a minor, 243.4, 261, 261.5, 262, 264.1, 266c, 266j, 273a, 273d,273.5, 285, 286, 288, 288a, 288.2, 288.5, 289, 289.5, 311.1, 311.2, 311.3, 311.4, 313.1, 314, and 647.6 unless specifically authorized by a juvenile court, pursuant to Welfare and Institution Code Section 362.6. Arrests without a conviction and substantial evidence shows the crime has taken place may be used to prohibit visits.

Baby:

  • One transparent Pacifier
  • Three containers of Factory Sealed Baby Food and One Plastic Baby Spoon
  • One single-layer baby blanket
  • One transparent diaper bag
  • One change of clothing
  • One single-layer burp cloth

Children are to remain under the direct supervision and control of the visiting parent or guardian at all times.

FAMILY VISITING POLICY

PER TITLE 15 & DOM

Authorized Property for Family Visitation

Due to space restrictions and limited staff to research incoming items, reasonable limitations will be placed upon the quantity of items. Items may be x-rayed or opened as part of the search process.

Violation of any part of this restriction shall be deemed a contraband possession violation. All devices will be subject to inspection by family visiting staff.

The following items are strictly prohibited

  • Cellular phones
  • Narcotics or alcoholic beverages
  • Glass containers
  • Spice items (mace, nutmeg, yeast, etc.)
  • Money (checkbook, credit card, etc.)
  • Electrical appliances (curling rods, hair dryers, irons)
  • Flammable liquids (lighter fluid, etc.)
  • Pets
  • Denim clothing, swimsuits, white or grey sweats, spandex
  • Cameras, camcorders, and/or recording instruments
  • Wigs, permanent waves, hair dyes, tints, etc.
  • Firearms, explosives, or knives
  • Any battery-operated electrical device (radios, toys, etc.)
  • Cigarettes/tobacco items, matches, or lighters

The following items are allowable cosmetic/toiletry items:

  • One bar of soap
  • One plastic see through bottle of shampoo/conditioner
  • One tube of denture adhesive (If needed)
  • One stick of deodorant
  • One tube of toothpaste (no pump)
  • One toothbrush per visitor
  • One disposable plastic safety razor
  • One comb or brush, non-metallic (no pointed ends and no detachable parts)
  • One plastic see through pump bottle hair spray
  • One box sanitary napkins/female hygiene products
  • One tube lipstick or one lip gloss (no glass)
  • One tube of mascara
  • One eye liner (no glass)
  • One compact or liquid makeup (no glass)
  • One perfume or cologne (no glass)
  • Ten factory sealed condoms inmates will not be permitted to use or possess condoms outside of the family visiting quarter. (All unused condoms will be retained in their sealed containers and taken out of the institution by the visiting spouse.)

Additional Allowable Items:

  • Personal linens, including mattress covers and couch cover, flat sheet, fitted sheet, single layer blanket, bath towel, hand towel, & wash cloth, for each person & for the length of the visit
  • A bathmat & disposable shower curtain
  • An unopened, sealed lubricant bottle

Infant care will be limited to:

  • Two single layer baby blankets
  • One unopened package of 24 disposable diapers
  • One unopened container of powdered or bottled formula
  • One unopened plastic container of baby lotion
