VISITATION SCHEDULING INFORMATION

Pleasant Valley State Prison currently offers All-day visiting (see below for hours). You must self-schedule your appointment by utilizing the Visitation Scheduling Application (VSA) at: https://cdcr.gtlvisitme.com/app . The request period begins each week, eight days before the visitation day at 6:30 am and closes five days before the visitation day.

PLEASE NOTE: Facility C is on a Bifurcated Program with split visiting days/hours for group I and group II inmates. If you are visiting an inmate housed on Facility C, please review their designated visiting days & hours below prior to scheduling a visit.

ALLOWABLE VISITOR ITEMS

Visitors are limited in items that may be brought into the prison. Items allowed without prior approval are limited to:

  • $100 limit per adult and $50 limit per child. Only quarters or dollar coins will be allowed into the institution. There are change machines located in the visitor processing center for visitors to utilize. These machines only accept $1, $5, $10, and $20 dollar bills. Any bills larger than a $20 will not be accepted.
  • A small transparent bag (generally 6 in. by 8 in) larger bags may be allowed for visitors with minor children.
  • Two keys on a ring with no other attachments. One key may be an electronic key fob.
  • Government issued identification card. May be either Driver License, Identification Card, Passport, or consulate identification card.
  • A comb or brush, non-metallic, no pointed ends or detachable parts.
  • A small unopened pack of tissues or a handkerchief; no bandannas.
  • A pair of Prescription glasses.
  • Ten photographs, no larger than 8″ by 10″. Photos may be shown to the incarcerated person but must be taken out by the visitor at the end of the visit. Photos cannot be Polaroid and will be viewed by staff during processing to ensure they are appropriate.
  • Documents up to 10 pages, no larger than 8 1/2 ” by 11″ (standard typing paper). Documents will be viewed by staff during processing to ensure appropriateness. All documents that enter the visiting room must be taken out by the visitor at the end of the visit.
  • Visitors who are bringing an infant or a toddler may bring any of the following baby items.
    * A combination of six facotry-sealed single serving packets of baby formula or four transparent plastic baby bottles or cups that are empty or contain premixed formula, milk, almond milk, soy milk, rice milk, lactose-free milk, juice, or water; a breast pump and associated supplies; and refrigerated or frozen breastmilk.
    * Six non glass containers of baby food or snacks in sealed packaging.
    * Two plastic spoons.
    * Ten (10) disposable diapers.
    * One Sealed package of baby wipes.
    * Three changes of clothing.
    * Two small blankets (single ply).
    * Two pacifiers.
    * Three burp cloths.
    * Diaper cream.
    * A baby carrier or wrap.
    * A clear plastic diaper bag.

ATTIRE RESTRICTIONS

Visitors attire restriction are as follows:

Prohibited Attire: Consists of but is not limited to the following:

  • Clothing that resembles state-issued clothing worn by the incarcerated population (blue denim or blue chambray shirts and blue denim pants).
  • Clothing or garments that:
    * Expose the breast/chest area, genitals, or buttocks. Or by design, the manner worn, or due to the absence of, excessively allows the anatomical detail fo body parts or midriff to be clearly viewed.
    * Are sheer, transparent, or excessively tight.
    * Espose more than two inches above the knee, including slits when standing.
  • Strapless or spaghetti strap tops.
  • Shower shoes and house slippers.
  • Sleeveless dresses or tops that expose undergarments.
  • Clothing or accessories displaying obscene or offensive language, drawings, or objects.

PLAN AHEAD BEFORE YOU TRAVEL

If an institution must cancel visiting due to conditions such as weather, those with an appointment will receive a notice through the Visitation Scheduling Application (VSA). If you plan on participating in a walk-in visit, please contact the institution beforehand.

Visiting With a Minor (17 Years or Younger): As a reminder, a certified copy of each minor’s birth certificate must be brought with an adult visitor accompanying the minor at all times, regardless of whether the child has previously visited PVSP. Visitors with an accompanying minor will only be permitted in if they have the minors birth certificate.

If the minor child is being accompanied by an adult that is NOT their legal parent or guardian, you MUST bring a certified copy of the minor’s birth certificate AND a notarized Minor Consent Form. IN-PERSON VISITING DAYS & HOURS

Facility A, B, D & Level 1

Friday: 11:30 a.m. – 6:00 p.m.
Saturday, Sunday and Designated Holidays: 8:30 a.m. – 3:00 p.m.

FACILITY C VISITING DAYS & HOURS

Group I Incarcerated Persons Only: Fridays at 11:30 a.m. – 6:00 p.m. & Saturdays at 8:30 a.m. – 3:00 p.m.

Group II Incarcerated Persons Only: Sundays at 830 a.m. – 3:00 p.m.

Designated Holidays: 8:30 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. for Group I & 12:30 p.m. – 3:00 p.m. for Group II

RHU

Incarcerated Persons currently housed in RHU are elegible for visits. Visits must be scheduled utilizing the VSA system. NO WALK IN VISITS.

All visits shall be non-contact and one hour in length. Visitors are expected to arrive approximately 30 minutes prior to the appointment start time to allow for processing.

The designated time slots for RHU visits are as follows:

Fridays: 12:00 PM, 1:30 PM, 3:00 PM, and 4:30 PM

Saturday, Sunday and Designated Holidays: 9:30 AM, 11:00 AM and 12:15 PM

WALK-IN VISITING HOURS & INSTRUCTIONS

Visitors arriving for unscheduled visits (walk-ins) may begin arriving no earlier than 10:00 AM. Visitors will not be issued walk-in numbers and will be processed on a first come first serve basis.

REMINDER: Visitors are required to park in the designated Visitor Parking Lot.

Restrooms for visitors are available at the Visitor Processing Center throughout the day and at the Friends Outside trailer only during visiting hours.

Facility A, B, D & Level 1 Walk-Ins:

  • Fridays: 2:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m. (Processing ends at 4:00 p.m.)
  • Saturdays, Sundays & Designated Holidays: 8:30 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. (Processing ends at 1:00p.m.)

Facility C Walk-Ins:

  • Fridays (Group I Only): 2:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m. (Processing ends at 4:00 p.m.)
  • Saturdays (Group I Only): 11:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. (Processing ends at 1:00 p.m.)
  • Sundays (Group II Only): 8:30 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. (Processing ends at 1:00 p.m.)
