Access to Institution Affect 

CDCR urges those traveling to our institutions to plan ahead for a safe trip.

Before heading to an institution for an in-person visit, download the QuickMap app or visit https://quickmap.dot.ca.gov/  for up-to-the-minute information on road conditions, traffic, closures, chain control, and more. If an institution must cancel visiting due to conditions such as weather, those with an appointment will receive a notice through the Visitation Scheduling Application (VSA). If you plan on participating in a walk-in visit, please contact the institution beforehand..

Visitation Information

Wasco State Prison-Reception Center utilizes https://cdcr.gtlvisitme.com/app for all scheduled visits. Please refer to the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation (CDCR) website for further information on how to schedule a visit.

In-Person Appointment are 12:00pm – 6:30pm for Facilities A/M and Reception Center on Friday and 8:00am to 2:30pm for Facilities A/M and Reception Center on Saturday and Sunday. As of July 7, 2023, Reception Center visitation is by appointments only. No Walk-In visitations will be processed for reception inmates. RHU visitation hours are Friday 12:00pm to 1:30pm, Saturday and Sunday 8:00am to 10:00am and 10:15am to 12:15pm. All RHU visits are by appointment only.

Visiting With a Minor (17 Years or Younger): As a reminder, a certified copy of each minor’s birth certificate must be brought with an adult visitor accompanying the minor at all times, regardless of whether the child has previously visited WSP-RC. Visitors with an accompanying minor will only be permitted in if they have the minors birth certificate.

If the minor child is being accompanied by an adult that is NOT their legal parent or guardian, you MUST bring a certified copy of the minor’s birth certificate AND a notarized Minor Consent Form. Visiting Scanned Documents

The Visiting Department is experiencing system wide issues with the scanning of documents related to visiting (Birth Certificates, marriage certificates, etc.). Visitors are to bring all documents (Birth Certificates, Doctor’s notes, etc.) related to visiting until further notice.

In-Person Visitation

Friday: 12:00 p.m. – 6:30 p.m. 

Saturday: 8:00 a.m. – 2:30 p.m. 

Sunday: 8:00 a.m. – 2:30 p.m.

WSP-RC Visiting Staff may allow a grace period of 30 minutes after appointment time.

You are allowed to enter prison grounds 30 minutes prior to your appointment/ walk in times (ONLY for Facility A/M) processing, please do not enter prison grounds before that, it may cause a termination in your visit for the day, if you are loitering in the parking lot.

No Walk-In visitations will be processed for inmates housed in reception.

We recommend making an appointment via Visiting Scheduling Application (VSA). If you are unable to schedule an appointment due to VSA account issues, please contact Sgt. Henry for further assistance.

Overnight Family Visiting

Family Visits are scheduled for Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday. Visitors are asked to arrive between the hours of 9:00 AM and 10:00AM for processing.

Facility A / MSF family visitation is currently open.

 All parolee pick-ups and drop offs will now be conducted at the Bakersfield Amtrak/Greyhound station. Post release pick-ups (Lighthouse, STOP, etc.) can still be conducted at the front gate shack.
