Staff Demographic Data

CDCR and CCHCS believe that analyzing our workforce demographic information and sharing it publicly supports the Department’s commitment towards diversity, equity, inclusion and belonging as vital principles. Understanding the experiences of our employees helps create and maintain a workplace where everyone is valued. Through partnerships with diverse groups and community organizations, we are expanding our outreach and recruitment efforts to champion inclusion for all.

Our selection process is merit based, requiring that individuals hired into and promoted within civil service are selected on the basis of job-related qualifications. Such selection decisions must be free of discrimination and are made in a way that is objective, equitable, and tie the job’s requirements to the individual’s skills.
