Operation Boo 2017 nets 70 arrests during compliance sweep

A person is arrested by parole agents during Operation Boo 2017.

CDCR parole agents arrested more than 70 of the 1,377 parolees contacted during 2017 Operation Boo Halloween compliance checks.

“Our heartfelt thanks go out to about 400 of our parole agents and nearly 150 local law enforcement partners, who gave up family time to help ensure that California’s children enjoyed a safer trick-or-treat experience free from sexual predators,” said Jerry Powers, Director of the Division of Adult Parole Operations.

New felony and misdemeanor charges were filed against nine sex-offender parolees contacted. Pornography was confiscated from 10 of the parolees checked on Halloween night while 15 parolees in Northern California were caught with weapons. Two parolees at large were also arrested. The violations statewide included 36 parolees who were not in compliance with their conditions of parole.
