For six years, California Medical Facility (CMF) Correctional Officer Joshua Brown has hit the ice to play charity tournaments in Santa Rosa.
On Dec. 8, 2017, the North Bay Guns-N-Hoses Hockey Club squared off against the San Jose Sharks Alumni players to raise funds for fire victims.

Officer Brown is no stranger to the ice, having played hockey for 19 years. The Santa Rosa native said the 2017 fires hit close to home.
“I’m deeply humbled to have had the privilege to play in this unbelievable event,” he said. “My family and most of my closest friends live in Santa Rosa, and several lost their homes during the fire.”
The event, held at Snoopy’s Home Ice, raised over $40,000 for fire victims.
“Participating in a charity game hosted by such an amazing organization as the North Bay Guns-N-Hoses Hockey Club was an incredible experience. I was honored to represent CDCR while playing against some of the most well-known Sharks Alumni players,” he said.
NotableSharks Alumni included Dan Boyle, Scott Hannan, Mike Ricci, Owen Nolan, Evgeni Nabokov, Douglas Murray, and Curtis Brown.
The hockey club was formed in 2012 with players coming from north bay law enforcement and firefighting agencies.
The next event for the North Bay Guns-N-Hoses will be Mar. 25 as they challenge a group of Bay Area first responders to help raise funds and awareness for those affected by post-traumatic stress disorder.
