Family members and hundreds of law enforcement officers, including Honor Guard Team Members from the California State Prison, Los Angeles County (LAC), honored Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Deputy Joseph Gilbert Solano at a memorial service on June 24, 2019, at the Cathedral of Our Lady of the Angels in downtown Los Angeles.

Deputy Solano, 50, was shot in the head June 10 as he waited for food at a Jack in the Box near Los Angeles. He died two days later.

According to authorities, the deputy was off-duty and was not wearing anything to indicate he was a member of law enforcement.

Deputy Solano was a 13-year veteran of the sheriff’s department.
