On Aug. 9, the California Institution for Men (or CIM) unveiled their new staff fitness center. Several staff members from various parts of the Institution attended the opening, which included refreshments and a ribbon cutting ceremony.

Key speakers acknowledged staff members and departments for their efforts in opening the center. The fitness center is equipped with multiple free weights, cardio vascular equipment, exercise mats and a stress-reducing massage chair.

CIM would like to thank the Office of Employee Wellness with all their efforts in making this fitness center possible.

Improvement plans for the center include adding additional benches for the dumbbell rack, additional workout machines and a possible heavy bag.

Warden (A) Mona D. Houston started the grand opening with the ceremonial ribbon cutting.

“We want to run a poll and allow the staff who work at CIM to name the fitness center. Also, today has brought me a lot of joy; we now have a beautiful fitness center for CIM staff, which was built through team work,” Warden Houston said.
