A three-day hiring event by the Office of Peace Officer Selection (OPOS) in Susanville brought in 74 candidates from the surrounding areas.

The candidates successfully entered into the correctional officer selection process by completing the application and written exam.

OPOS will host another one-stop hiring event October 25 and 26 in Crescent City.

In Susanville, recruiters from the High Desert State Prison and California Correctional Center engaged the interested applicants through an informational session on correctional officer careers, the various career paths available to correctional officers, and shared personal experiences.

OPOS testing provided computers for applying online and assisted attendees with their applications, in addition to administering a written exam session each day.

In Crescent City, OPOS will provide two opportunities to apply and test. The events will be:

Friday, October 25 and Saturday, October 26 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Elks Valley Rancheria, 2332 Howland Hill Road, Crescent City, CA 95531
