CDCR earned honors at the recent 21st annual State Agency Recognition Awards (SARA).
The program honors state departments, small business (SB) and disabled veteran business enterprise (DVBE) advocates, and state leadership for outstanding achievements in the fiscal year 2019-20.
CDCR honors and/or individuals recipients honored are as follows:
Notable Achievement Award
CDCR was one of 36 honorees for achieving 30 percent or more SB participation, and 5 percent or more DVBE participation
Agency of the Year
CDCR received the honor for their best practices, creativity and outstanding achievements to advance the state’s SB and DVBE programs. CDCR demonstrated its commitment and success across the areas of outreach efforts, performance measurements, and notable improvements.
Angel Carrera Leadership
This award is in memory of Angel Carrera Jr., Chief of the Certification and Outreach Branch at DGS who passed away in 2019. The award recognizes and celebrates a leader in state procurement who, like Angel, supports SBs and DVBEs in state procurement and is a tremendous leader.
CDCR honorees were:
- Imelda Cadigal, California Institution for Men
- Shea Jolley, California City Correctional Facility
Secretary’s Special Achievement Award
This award is given to the state department, agency or individual whose best practices, innovation, and advocacy efforts have allowed them to go above and beyond in exceeding the state’s SB and DVBE enterprise contracting goals.
Nina Martinez, CDCR, Office of Business Services received this year’s honor.
