Correctional Training Facility marks 75 years of service

Correctional Training Facility (CTF) recognized 75 years of operation with a ceremony in the memorial garden of institution grounds on June 17, 2021.

The event included an honor guard ceremony for staff members killed in the line of duty, guest speakers from CTF’s past 75 years, facility tours, access to the CTF museum, and the opening of a time capsule originally entombed in the walls of CTF in 1949.

The facility, originally known as Soledad State Prison, began operations in Salinas Valley in 1946.

In May 1949, CTF staff and former California Governor Earl Warren, placed a time capsule filled with mementos into the cornerstone of the administration building.
