CTF Soledad veterans housing unit is one of first in country

What started as an idea for a Correctional Training Facility (CTF) veterans housing unit is now a reality.

At a May 28th ribbon-cutting ceremony, the veterans housing unit was unveiled at CTF. It is reported to be one of the first in the nation.

The facility is a re-purposed unit housing 120 veterans with a capacity to expand to accommodate 280. Improvements are paid through Veterans Healing Veterans from the Inside Out (VHV) and other charitable organizations.

Participants will be housed with other veterans and be offered an array of programming including some unique to the unit:

  • veteran mentorship
  • veteran support groups
  • New Life K-9 program

The K-9 program teaches and places highly educated service dogs with veterans and first responders suffering from PTSD. The K-9s were also part of the ribbon-cutting event.
