Valley State Adult School and Merced College honored several students at a recent graduation, including the first from Valley State Prison (VSP) to earn the college’s Superintendent’s Honors.
The Valley State Prison students earned Merced College Superintendent’s Honors for achieving a 4.0 GPA in 60 units or more.
Additionally, a number of students have been awarded membership in Alpha Gamma Sigma, the California Community College Honor Society.
Benjamin Frandsen earned an Associate in Arts for Transfer in English with Alpha Gamma Sigma honors. Frandsen was also awarded Merced College Superintendent’s Honors and voted Outstanding English Student of the Year by English Faculty.
Robert Rustad earned an Associate in Arts for Transfer in English, an Associate in Arts for Transfer in Psychology, and an Associate in Arts in Psychology, with Alpha Gamma Sigma honors. Rustad was also awarded Merced College Superintendent’s Honors.
Jason Lint earned an Associate in Arts for Transfer in Psychology with Alpha Gamma Sigma Honors.
Gary Caldera earned an Associate in Arts in Social and Behavioral Science with Honors Distinction for achieving a 3.5 GPA during his course of study.
John Madewell earned an Associate in Arts in Social and Behavioral Science with Alpha Gamma Sigma Honors.
Anh Truong earned an Associate in Arts in Social and Behavioral Science.
