Staff began bringing in backpacks filled with school supplies. On Aug. 13, the Transportation Unit loaded a bus with over 50 backpacks full of supplied as well as other items needed for the classrooms.
The Transportation Officers personally passed out the backpacks. The students got to see the bus up close and ask questions, which the officers were happy to answer.
Along with school supplies, the backpacks also contained a snack and gift card.
“My staff is a giving unit. They love giving back to the community and especially to the children. We are very proud to say that we collected enough backpacks and school supplies for each child in need,” said Transportation Lt. Rikki Horn.
School Principal Cherie Ramos Solian expressed her gratitude to all the staff.
“Our teachers do all they can for the students, but cannot fulfill all the students’ needs,” she said.
The supplies will help children whose families are economically challenged.
