As the CDCR/CCHCS Our Promise campaign gets underway, we’re highlighting organizations that help people in urgent need, including those impacted by the devastating Caldor Fire. Today we’ll focus on the El Dorado Community Foundation, which has established the Caldor Fire Fund to support the many fire-impacted families.
The Foundation’s mission is to serve people in need “through the direct support of community and organizations who passionately give for the benefit of all.”
Acting as stewards for local individuals and organizations, EDCF provides flexible ways to support numerous causes through grants and donations.
EDCF is currently distributing more than $1.4 million in relief to households impacted by the Caldor Fire. The push includes ongoing recovery and rebuilding efforts for those who lost their homes. The fire that ignited August 14 has scorched more than 219,000 acres in three counties, destroying more than 1,000 structures.
You can support EDCF via Our Promise: California State Employees Giving Back at Work. Visit Cal Employee Connect to access the ePledge portal and make a voluntary donation via one-time or ongoing payroll deduction. The CDCR/CCHCS Our Promise campaign runs September 15 through October 15. Learn more at https://www.ourpromiseca.org/.
