On October 21, staff from California City Correctional Facility joined other law enforcement personnel to raise funds through a Tip-A-Cop event in Tehachapi.

Big Papa’s Steakhouse and Saloon hosted the event that benefits Special Olympics Southern California.

California City CDCR staff took on the role as food servers during Tip-A-Cop, collecting tips as donations. In all, staff raised $2,400 through tips but the restaurant decided to pitch in as well. They added 20% of the evening’s proceeds, bringing the total to $3,155.

Throughout the year, CDCR staff attend fundraising events with proceeds going to Special Olympics. All staff said they had a great time, and cannot wait for the next event.
