California Rehabilitation Center (CRC) reported the passing of Correctional Officer Daniel Boyd on September 15, 2021. Six days later, CRC staff assembled to pay their respects to Officer Boyd.
Officer Daniel Boyd began his CDCR career in November 2017. Upon graduating the Basic Correctional Officer Academy, he reported to Ironwood State Prison. He transferred to CRC in October 2020.
“Officer Boyd was admired and respected by everyone and was considered family to not only CRC but to Ironwood State Prison as well,” according to staff.
Joining CRC for the ceremony was Officer Boyd’s father and wife.
After words from a CRC Chaplain, a ceremonial End of Watch radio transmission was played via institutional radio followed by a moment of silence. Taps was played by the Honor Guard.
Led by Warden (A) Glen E. Pratt, staff were able to give their condolences to the family and say goodbye to a fallen brother. The ceremony allowed staff who cannot attend the memorial services to have a sense of closure and instill a sense unity in a time of grief.
Officer Boyd’s community services were held September 30, 2021 at the Fraternal Order of the Eagles in Riverside.
