
Retired Correctional Administrator Duane Vryhof passed away Jan. 10, 2021. He began his CDCR career in 1990 after graduating from the Basic Correctional Officer Academy, reporting for duty at CSP-Corcoran.
His state service included Correctional Officer, Correctional Counselor I and Correctional Counselor II (Specialist).
In 2007, Vryhof transferred to Substance Abuse Treatment Facility and State Prison. Five years later, he promoted to Correctional Counselor III, then Correctional Administrator/Associate Warden. He retired in March 2013.
During his career, he served in the Honor Guard, was a T4T Instructor, was part of a youth diversion program, and acted as Range Master, teaching firearm use and safety to staff.
He is survived by his father, two brothers, wife, son, daughter, stepson, step-daughter, and grandchildren.
Services were held Jan. 23, 2021, in Hanford.
