Retired Correctional Officer Brian Cordell, a 22-year CDCR veteran, passed away Sept. 27, 2021.

Cordell began his career at the Richard A. McGee Correctional Training Center in November 1997. After graduating the Basic Correctional Officer Academy, he reported to California Medical Facility (CMF).

Officer Cordell spent his entire career at CMF, retiring in April 2020.

“Brian Cordell and I started the department and reported to CMF within weeks of one another. I was lucky enough to work with Brian and got a chance to see what a great man he was. I will miss him dearly and extend my sympathies to the Cordell family and my CMF family,” Warden Daniel Cueva wrote in an email to staff.
