
The California Prison Industry Board has appointed William “Bill” Davidson to serve as General Manager of the California Prison Industry Authority (CALPIA) and Executive Officer of the Board.
Davidson has been the Acting General Manager for CALPIA for one year while also serving as the Chief Financial Officer of the organization. He has 23 years of fiscal and administrative experience in state government.
Much of his career has been spent at the Department of Motor Vehicles. While there he served as the department’s Chief Budget Officer, Deputy Director of Field Operations and Chief Deputy Director.
Davidson also served as the Deputy Secretary for Administration and Finance at the California State Transportation Agency. Prior to his current appointment, Davidson spent eight years as a member of the California Prison Industry Board. He is a graduate of California State University, Sacramento, with a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration (Accounting).
As CALPIA’s acting general manager, Davidson has been instrumental for overseeing CALPIA’s 100-plus manufacturing, service and consumable enterprises. Those programs provide job skills and training opportunities to more than 7,000 incarcerated individuals at all 34 CDCR prisons.
