Manuel Rocha, retired officer, passes away

Retired Correctional Officer Manuel “Manny” Rocha passed away March 5, 2022.

He began his career with the department in 1988 as a cadet at the Basic Correctional Officer Academy. After graduating, he reported to Sierra Conservation Center (SCC) and was immediately assigned to camp.

For the first few years, he worked at Gleason Conservation Camp #16 then returned to Sierra Conservation Center. He retired in November 2015.

“Manuel ‘Manny’ Rocha served SCC for 27 years and will be dearly missed by all who knew him. Manuel worked various areas of the institution, most notably the Plaza, Back–gate, Vocations and Receiving & Release. Manny is survived by his son, daughter-in-law and grandson. We extend our most sincere condolences to the Rocha family, loved ones and friends,” according to a statement issued by the institution.
