School groups benefit from Mule Creek generosity

Thanks to the efforts of Mule Creek State Prison staff and the participation of the incarcerated population, two school groups received donations. Ione Elementary School’s 5th Grade Science Camp and Amador High School’s Performing Arts and Wrestling Club received proceeds from winter fundraising activities totaling nearly $23,000.

The population collaborated with Paisano’s Pizza in Ione and Jackson, spending over $100,000.

Staff worked diligently to process the paperwork associated with the fundraiser while also controlling movement and assisting with food distribution.
