Retired CO Refugio Ochoa passes away

While on vacation in Mexico, retired Correctional Officer Refugio Ochoa passed away as a result of injuries suffered in an accident.

According to his family, Ochoa worked at Patton State Hospital, Imperial County Mental Health and another institution in Pomona. He began as a nurse but later become a correctional officer.

After more than 21 years of state service, he retired as a correctional officer from Centinela State Prison in 2018.

Traveling with other motorcycle riders to an event known as Ruta Maya, he was killed in an accident.
