
Wasco State Prison-Reception Center (WSP-RC) reported the May 7, 2022, passing of locksmith Jeff Hughes.
Hughes began his career with CDCR in July 2005 as Wasco as an Materials and Stores Supervisor. In 2018, he became an institutional locksmith.
“Jeff will be greatly missed by all who knew and worked with him throughout the years,” according to a statement released by the prison. “WSP-RC extends our sincerest condolences to the Hughes family during this very difficult time.”
He is preceded in death by his mother Shirley and sister Kimberly. He is survived by his father Jack Hughes, his wife Polly and five children. According to his family, he was looking forward to the birth of his first grandchild.
Services will be held Saturday, May 14, at 10 a.m. at the West Side Family Fellowship Church, 2150 Palm Avenue, Wasco.
