CTF events give victims a voice

CTF guest speaker discusses victims and crimes.
CTF National Crime Victims Week was held April 24-30.

Near the end of April, the Correctional Training Facility (CTF) held their 10th annual National Crime Victims Week events, hosted by the Amity Foundation.

Throughout the week, the CTF incarcerated population as well as staff listened to the stories of victims from various backgrounds who shared their personal experiences of how crime impacted their lives.

In addition to the guest speakers, members of the incarcerated population also performed short plays.

Speaking about their crimes, they discussed the trauma, physical pain, emotional suffering and other experiences victims and their families went through.

The goal of this event is to:

  • Give victims a voice.
  • Effect change by preventing someone else from going through the suffering crime victims endure.
  • Provide the incarcerated population with a positive and educational experience hopefully contributing to positive changes.
