Wanda Barron, retired educator, passes away

Wanda Barron

Wanda Barron, retired supervisor of academic instruction, passed away July 1, 2022.

She began her CDCR career as a teacher in October 1993 at Chuckawalla Valley State Prison.

In August 2000, she promoted to supervisor of academic instruction. She retired in March 2005.

“We extend our most sincere condolences to Wanda’s family, loved ones, and friends,” according to a statement issued by the prison.

A Vigil will be held on Wednesday, July 13, from 5 to 8 pm at Frye Chapel and Mortuary, 633 N. 7th Street, Blythe. Mass of the Christian burial will be Thursday, July 14, at 10 am at St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church, 875 E. Chanslorway, Blythe.
