Correctional Sergeant Paul Carranza passed away May 3, 2022.
He began his CDCR career at the Basic Correctional Officer Academy in February 1991. After graduating in April, he reported to California Institution for Women as a correctional officer.
In May 1993, Carranza transferred to Chuckawalla Valley State Prison. In October the following year, he transferred to the California Institution for Men.
He transferred to California State Prison, Los Angeles County in March 1997. In 2003, he promoted to correctional sergeant, remaining at CSP-Los Angeles County until his passing.
“We extend our most sincere condolences to his wife, the Carranza family, loved ones and friends,” according to a statement issued by the institution.
Services were held in June.
