On August 18, 2022, Seger, a K-9 assigned to California Men’s Colony, passed away.

Seger was being kenneled while his handler was out of town for an event when he began experiencing a medical issue.

Kennel staff placed Seger in a vehicle to transport him to a nearby animal hospital. In mid-transport, he stopped breathing.

Kennel staff began life-saving measures but were unsuccessful. Seger was 4 years old.

He began with the department after graduating the K-9 Academy in June 2019. He was certified in detecting narcotics, electronics and air scan.
