Lorenzo “Larry” Medina, Jr., a retired lieutenant, passed away August 29, 2022. He worked for the department for more than 30 years.
Medina began his career at California Correctional Institution (CCI) in 1968. He promoted to sergeant in February 1988. Medina then promoted to lieutenant in October 1994 at North Kern State Prison.
In December 1985, he laterally transferred back to CCI, where he remained until retired in April 1999.
“CCI extends our thoughts and prayers to the family, friends and coworkers of Lorenzo ‘Larry’ Medina, Jr.,” according to a statement issued by the institution.
