A September 28 memorial service at High Desert State Prison honored the life and career of K-9 Blitz, who lost his battle with cancer.

Blitz graduated the K-9 Academy and Air Scan K-9 Academy in January 2015. He was assigned to High Desert Investigative Services Unit/K-9 until retiring in February 2021.
High Desert staff recognized Blitz’s dedicated service to the state and was instrumental in numerous narcotics cases.
In October, California Men’s Colony paid their respects to K-9 Seger, who died over the summer due to a medical emergency.
