Mark Corioso, retired CCII, passes away

Mark Corioso, retired Correctional Counselor II (CCII), passed away Dec. 4, 2022. He worked for the department for 25 years before retiring in 2007.

He began his peace officer career with the department in December 1982 as a correctional officer at California Medical Facility in Vacaville. He promoted to Correctional Counselor in November 1986. In July 1992, he transferred to CSP-Solano. He promoted to CCII in March 2006 and retired in September 2007 at age 50.

“Mark was an integral part of our Solano family, and will be greatly missed by all who knew him. Please continue to keep the Corioso family in your thoughts and prayers during this very difficult time,” according to a statement issued by the institution.

According to his family, he was civic-minded, belonging to numerous service clubs. He often volunteered for the Kiwanis Club, Sons in Retirement, Fairfield-Suisun Soccer League, Citizen’s Advisory Committee, Community Action Partnership and Dream Team. He also volunteered for Change and New Beginnings (CANB), an organization supporting veterans and others in need.

Corioso was member of the Rockville Presbyterian Church and an instructor at Solano Community College.

A memorial service will be help at 11 a.m., Jan. 19, at Bryan and Braker Funeral Home. His burial will take place immediately after the service at Rockville Cemetery followed by a celebration of life reception at the building located on the cemetery grounds. Guests are encouraged to wear yellow and green, Oregon Duck colors.
