Marco Soberanes, a retired correctional sergeant, passed away April 8, 2023.
He started his career with CDCR in July 2000 at the R.A. McGee Correctional Training Center.
Upon successful completion of the Basic Correctional Officer Academy, he reported for duty to Ironwood State Prison, where he remained for almost 14 years. He transferred to California City Correctional Facility in March 2014, promoting to sergeant three years later.
Soberanes retired March 31, 2023, completing 23 years of service for CDCR.
“He will be deeply missed by all who had the opportunity to work with him. Please keep his family and friends in your thoughts and prayers during this difficult time,” according to a statement issued by the institution.
